SUMMARY
The Quality Inspector I examines parts and assemblies to ensure they meet specified quality standards, including safety, performance, and compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts detailed mechanical/dimensional visual inspections.
- Uses precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, microscopes, etc., on raw materials, detail parts, outside processing, and finished assemblies.
- Documents inspection results by inputting data into the systems, applications, and products in data processing (SAP).
- Reads and interprets customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality notes from purchase orders.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications.
- Collaborate with the production team to communicate quality standards and address issues.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent, e.g., GED, vocational school diploma.
- 1+ years of experience as a quality control inspector or in a relevant role is preferred.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and dimensioning tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M.
- Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification preferred.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Conversational in any other language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Statistics: Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods.
- Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes.
JOB SKILLS
- Intermediate in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.
- Good knowledge of blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and ASME Y14.5M
- General understanding of Quality Assurance Systems and Applications, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Has the technical knowledge to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
- Produces mostly error-free work the first time with little waste or redone work.
- Hand agility, coordination, and accuracy.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and interface well with the Quality and other departments.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, high ethical standards, and a positive professional image, capable of relating to individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to meet challenging time targets to meet customer demands.
- Willing to work additional hours on short notice to meet customer or internal demands.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
- ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
- Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
- Hearing protection in specific locations.
- Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
