SUMMARY
The Business Unit Controller (BU Controller) will maximize return on financial assets and mitigate financial and regulatory risk by establishing and maintaining robust financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems for the Amphenol Cable and Interconnect Technologies (ACIT) business unit (2 US sites and 2 international sites). Ensure company accounting procedures conform to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“U.S. GAAP”), Amphenol Policy and Procedures, and all financial reporting is completed on an accurate and timely basis. Act as a business partner to the General Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the ACIT General Manager (GM) in formulating and administering company policies, developing long range goals and objectives, and actively managing monthly, quarterly and annual performance.
- Leads five direct reports to achieve exceptional results: Dir of Shared Services, Dir of FP&A, Mutli-plant Controller (US), and two International Plant Controllers (China and Mexico). Expected to drive DAC (Direction, Alignment, and Commitment) within the team and cross functionally with functional peers at the leadership level.
- Guides direct reports to advance their leadership, career and people development skills within each of their own teams
- Reviews analyses of strategies, revenue, cost, operation metrics, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
- Ensures on-time delivery and quality of weekly, monthly, and annual reporting cadence
- Confers with Group BU Controller (next level higher) and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
- Serves as member of committees on key initiatives.
- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annually, and adhoc requests)
- Work with BU Global Director of Operations, individual factory Directors of Operations, and Plant Finance Controllers to analyze operating performance and upcoming decisions
- Utilize SAP ECC MRP to standardize financial information (e.g. inventory, costing, AR/AP reporting) necessary to make operating decisions across all factories
- Support achievement of annual ACIT profitability and operating goals by providing timely, accurate, and meaningful information and analysis to aid Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Development personnel in identification of potential issues and opportunities
- Evaluates customers for credit worthiness and oversees the Dir of Shared Services who is responsible for collections, cash applications, and use of various tools to minimize DSO. Navigates the credit approval process with higher levels of management when requiring higher levels of authority to approve.
- Administer capital expenditure planning, budgeting, evaluation and reporting for factories and for the operating business unit as a whole. Additionally, review of recently deployed assets to ensure modeled ROI is aligned with approved expectations
- Oversee compliance in accordance with Amphenol Polices, monitor an effective system of Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) with the Dir of Shared Services and Plant Controllers. This includes serving as a reviewer and monitor of certain controls and the twice-annual “Amphenol Hard Close Process” (deep dive into internal controls and reconciliations done in June and December).
- Guarantee compliance with local laws and other regulations applicable to factories within the operating group. This duty will be performed in conjunction with respective regional finance controllers as applicable.
- Drive preparation of annual 3-year strategy review and next-year Budget process
- Lead forecast updates for factories and the business unit. Review factory controller submissions to ensure that forecasts are in alignment with the overall ACIT commitments.
- Collaborate with Amphenol Treasury, Tax, and Audit departments on strategic and tactical activities
- Support 2025 SAP conversion to SAP S4. Specifically for the financial module, with adjacent support for the implementation as a whole
- Support implementation of SAP for any new acquisitions within the operating group and optimization of SAP for factories individually combined with the rest of ACIT.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages five employees who support Accounting/Accounts Payable/Receivables/Finance Departments and plants for the Amphenol Cable and Interconnect Technologies (ACIT).
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or related field
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Strong developer of teams and individuals
- Proven track record of business partnering
- International experience (Mexico, China)
- Ability to work with and influence people at all levels of the organization
- Ability to develop financial and operational models
- Highly developed analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- SAP experience strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
