If so, Allen County is looking for an Automotive Technician to join our team! This role is perfect for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working on a variety of vehicles, from public safety units to essential service vehicles that keep our community moving.
As part of our team, you'll work in a well-equipped service center, performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on county vehicles. You'll also have opportunities to fabricate specialty parts, upfit vehicles with cutting-edge equipment, and work with a dedicated team that values your expertise and craftsmanship.

What You'll Do:
🔧 Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, brakes, steering, powertrain, electrical systems, and more.
🛠️ Perform routine and preventive maintenance (oil changes, tune-ups, tire replacements, etc.).
⚡ Upfit public safety and emergency vehicles with lighting, sirens, wiring, and other specialized equipment.
🔥 Fabricate and weld specialty parts to fit vehicle needs.
📋 Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs in the fleet management system.
🌎 Install and activate GPS tracking units in county vehicles.
🏢 Assist with general shop maintenance and occasional facility upkeep.
What You Bring to the Table:
✔ Experience & Skills – High school diploma/GED plus automotive repair training and 3+ years of experience.
✔ Certifications – ASE Certifications preferred (but not required).
✔ Technical Know-How – Strong understanding of electrical circuits, vehicle diagnostics, and repair.
✔ Problem-Solving Ability – Ability to recognize and fix unsafe vehicle conditions.
✔ Work Ethic – A strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
✔ Tech-Savvy – Comfortable using diagnostic equipment and fleet management software.
✔ Clean Record – Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
🚗 Hands-on garage setting with exposure to temperature changes, machinery, and some noise.
💪 Requires physical endurance, including lifting (up to 60 lbs.), bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
