SYSTEMS OPERATOR

Overview:
Are you passionate about democracy and ensuring fair and accurate elections? Join our dedicated team as a Systems Operator in the Allen County Voter Registration office, representing the Democratic Party. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage voter registration records, ensure compliance with election laws, and support the democratic process through meticulous record-keeping and exceptional service. This role is instrumental in maintaining voter confidence and upholding the integrity of our elections.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Process voter registrations from multiple sources, ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date in accordance with Indiana Election Code and federal regulations.
  • Customer Service: Respond to inquiries from the public in person, over the phone, and via email with professionalism and clarity.
  • Data Management: Conduct detailed research to resolve incomplete or inconclusive voter registrations, ensuring all data meets legal requirements.
  • Election Day Support:
    • Provide critical support to poll workers and voters, troubleshoot issues, and oversee temporary staff.
    • Update voter records based on changes submitted at polling locations.
  • Training and Supervision: Guide and train temporary staff during high-volume periods under the direction of the Voter Registration Manager.
  • Signature Verification: Validate voter signatures on candidate petitions and countywide remonstrance.
  • General Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned, including required overtime during peak election periods.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic data processing.
    • Familiarity with Statewide Voter Registration Systems (SVRS) and GIS mapping.
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers, label makers, and multiline phones.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Federal and Indiana Election Code.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse audiences.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must be a registered voter in Indiana and have pulled a Democratic ticket in the most recent primary election.

Work Environment

This position operates in a standard office setting, requiring:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
  • Regular use of computers for data entry and document management.

Reporting Structure

  • Immediate Supervisor: Voter Registration Manager
  • Supervision Responsibilities: None

Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with overtime as needed during election cycles.
