GROCERY STOCKER
Department: Sheriff – Jail Commissary FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Classification/Level: Part-time Date: 2/22/2018
Under the direction of the Commissary Manager, the Grocery Stocker is responsible for filling and bagging inmate orders, making deductions from inmate cash accounts, and restocking shelves at the Allen County Jail Commissary. This position is not covered as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for filling and bagging inmate orders.
- Restocks shelves.
- Makes deductions from inmate cash accounts using Spillman database system.
- Audits orders for accuracy.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to add and subtract with accuracy
- Ability to use personal computer, copying machine, adding machine, telephone and other job related equipment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The Grocery Stocker maintains frequent contact with law enforcement, confinement personnel and inmates of the Allen County Jail while filling orders and stocking shelves at the Allen County Jail Commissary.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Grocery Stocker spends frequent time standing, walking, lifting of up to forty pounds, bending, and reaching over head. Some pushing/pulling, kneeling, monitoring equipment and proofreading exists and very frequent typing, attention to detail and detailed inspection is required. The Grocery Stocker works with inmates who may be potentially violent and/or aggressive.
