Position Summary:

This position will work closely with the 13th Street Educational Partnership and students and teachers in the Reading School District, namely Northeast Middle, 13th & Union Elementary, and 12th & Marion Elementary Schools, to provide tutoring services and teacher assistance.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Tutors/Assistants will work directly with students and teachers in the Reading School District. Tutors/Assistants will work at the school site, in-person and on campus for special events/field trips when Reading school students are visiting the college. Tutors will work with individual or small groups of students to bolster academic skills, lead enrichment activities, and serve as role models.  Assistants will work under the direction of classroom teachers to support classroom learning and daily activities.

 

Candidate must have good communication skills and a willingness to provide support and mentorship to school age school students.

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

  1. SKILLS

a. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

b. Must be patient, creative, and responsible

c. Ability to develop rapport with children and manage small groups of children in classroom and club settings

  1. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

a. Experience working with children preferred

 

  1. EDUCATION

a. All necessary clearances for working with children required

b. Education students preferred

 

  1. OTHER
  1. Federal Work Study students preferred
