Director of Admission
Position Summary:
The Director of Admissions at Albright College provides strategic leadership and operational management for all undergraduate admission activities. This role is integral to achieving the college's enrollment goals while maintaining its commitment to academic excellence and diversity.
The Director of Admissions provides advice and data analysis to guide the Department of Admissions. The Director will be responsible for developing and analyzing enrollment-related data, research, and admissions trend data, which will affect decisions related to recruitment, enrollment, admissions, scholarship strategies, and communications and marketing materials. The Director will manage the activities and priorities of all third-party vendors responsible for assisting with recruitment predictive modeling, market research, and database operations.
The Director proactively manages the inquiry and applicant pool and ensures admission counselors are making decisions on completed applications in a timely manner. The Director coordinates the travel of all admission counselors in order to generate inquiries and applications to Albright College. The Director also represents the College at recruiting and other events, as well as contacting high school guidance counselors and community college transfer counselors for the recruitment of new students.
In close consultation with the Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing, the Director of Admissions will develop and implement comprehensive student recruitment plans consistent with the College's overall strategic plan, including on-campus and off-campus programs, student search, and travel and territory management.
The Director of Admissions will communicate and work with prospective students through in-person appointments, telephone, email, texting, social media sites, and video/virtual chat on the admissions process and opportunities at Albright College.
This position requires the ability to travel locally and nationally, including evening and weekend hours.
The incumbent must possess a strategic and curious mind with an ability to communicate and create interest in the College with prospective students. This professional must be enthusiastic, people-oriented, and enjoy working with high school and college students. This position resides in a fun and fast-paced department, and the incumbent should live by details, have exceptional organizational skills, and have a positive attitude.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the admissions team and continue building a goal-oriented environment that empowers staff and celebrates achieving enrollment goals while maintaining high student recruitment and selection standards.
- Lead and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies to meet annual enrollment targets. Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement data-driven admission policies and procedures that align with the college's mission and strategic plan.
- Oversee the entire admission funnel, from prospect development through enrollment, including application review, merit scholarship awarding, and yield activities, while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and ethical standards.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including faculty, athletic coaches, alums, guidance counselors, and community organizations, to build effective recruitment networks and enhance the college's visibility.
- Direct the analysis of enrollment trends, market research, and competitive data to inform recruitment strategies and make recommendations for program development and market positioning.
- Leading and implementing on-campus recruitment events, including but not limited to open house events, information sessions, visit days, guidance counselor events, accepted student days, phone-a-thons, and counselor workshops.
- Collaborating with the Financial Aid, Registrar, Residential Life, and Advising offices to facilitate the enrollment process.
- Preparing, maintaining, and distributing a series of activity, inquiry, and applicant reports designed to keep key Albright College personnel up to date on the status of the applicant pool.
- Understanding, applying, maintaining, and ensuring all student information is accurate and complete and in compliance with mandatory College, state, and federal policies and NACAC policies and practices regarding data and the recruitment and admission of students, such as FERPA, ADA, and more.
- Manage the admissions budgets, ensuring positive ROI, effective use of resources, and operations and expenses within budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Prerequisites:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least five (5) years of related experience in admissions and enrollment in higher education, managing cross-functional teams, overseeing all aspects of developing and implementing recruitment and enrollment plans that meet institutional objectives, and achieving performance-based results.
- Experience in using student information systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and communication technologies to recruit and enroll students.
- Strong quantitative and data analysis skills and the ability to use data to make decisions.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other email, database and spreadsheet applications, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work independently, completing work in a thorough and timely manner and balancing competing demands with courtesy and tact.
- Ability to provide information courteously and accurately to employees, students, and the general public.
- Ability to quickly learn and retain a large body of general College information, including activities, functions, personnel, rules, policies, regulations, procedures, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual
- Experience with Slate CRM
- Experience at a private liberal arts institution
- Knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic region's educational landscape
- Proven track record of innovative recruitment initiatives
- Experience with financial aid leveraging and merit scholarship programs
- Familiarity with international student recruitment
