The Director of Marketing and Communications creates, directs, and guides the strategic direction and implementation of innovative and responsible marketing and communication strategies for multiple audience segments. Through these efforts, increasing visibility, brand awareness, reputation, and engagement with key internal and external partners and stakeholders, with an emphasis on prospective students, is critical. This position will lead the campus in implementing a dynamic print and traditional along with a digital strategy that integrates digital and social media and online advertising to enhance visibility and engagement. 

 

The Director will lead all integrated digital marketing and communication efforts, maintaining consistency and enhancing effectiveness across all digital platforms. This position will also ensure timely, high-quality production of promotional print communications. This position will oversee marketing planning and research, guide the creation and implementation of advertising and public relations initiatives, monitor industry competition, trends, and messaging, and develop strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

This position is in a fun and fast-paced department, and the incumbent should live by details, have exceptional organizational skills, and have a positive attitude.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide leadership to the Marketing and Communications team and continue building a goal-oriented environment that empowers staff and celebrates achievements in public relations, marketing, web services, print services, graphic design, photography, and multi-media. 
  • Create and implement an annual integrated marketing communications plan that supports the College Strategic Plan to advance enrollment-based strategies, advancement and alumni and philanthropic activities, and institutional brand and reputation. Use quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the success and effectiveness of marketing and advertising initiatives and campaigns, adjusting strategies and tactics to meet objectives, annual goals, and KPIs. 
  • Work in close collaboration with Enrollment Management to oversee creating a dynamic, multifaceted admissions marketing strategy that expands enrollment and enhances the reputation of each academic program. 
  • Direct, coordinate, and support the college's marketing, branding, and communication efforts to ensure brand and message consistency with college marketing strategies.  
  • Develop and manage the annual advertising strategy and coordinate with all vendors. 
  • Provide direction for college social media channels, direct mail campaigns, electronic communications, digital and print advertising, and print collateral projects. 
  • Direct, oversee, and participate in the website's content creation, design, and development, ensuring the adoption and integration of appropriate new technologies to maximize information delivery and user engagement. 
  • Sourcing stories internally for external communications, developing relationships with key editors and reporters, and coordinating marketing attendance at campus events, leading to positive coverage of Albright, its programs, faculty, students, and events to prospective students.   
  • Serve as an editor and contributor to the Albright Reporter (alumni magazine) and The Lowdown (campus newsletter). 
  • Copywriting, editing speeches, developing key message points for use in interviews, and advising and counseling on various public image issues for the President and executive leadership.  
  • Writing and editing copy for a variety of college publications, including enrollment materials, brochures, posters, and digital communications, ensuring those publications adhere to brand guidelines and institutional key messages.  
  • Leads the college crisis communications response team, including establishing processes and policies for crisis communications, preparing communication plans, statements, and messages, and facilitating accurate and timely information for stakeholders. 
  • Work comfortably and confidentially with senior leadership in all areas of the college and be available to respond to critical requests for information in short timeframes. 
  • Manage marketing and communications budgets, ensuring positive ROI, effective use of resources, and operations and expenses within budget. 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Marketing, Business, or a related field 
  • At least five (5) years of related experience in marketing and communications, managing cross-functional teams, overseeing all aspects of integrated multi-platform marketing strategies, and achieving performance-based results.  
  • Demonstrated leadership, team and project management, organizational, and operational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects 
  • Skilled marketing writer with excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Higher education or marketing agency experience is required.
