The Industrial Hygiene Specialist provides both technical and regulatory management for industrial hygiene as required to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace conditions that may cause injury, illness and/or exposure. This role will focus on conducting sampling, development of monitoring plans, exposure monitoring or oversight of, interpreting reports, identifying control measures, provide guidance of additional control measure or work practice. As well as the preparation of regulatory compliance assessments and conducting occupational health investigations.

The successful candidate must effectively work with a variety of diverse work groups and environments and seek to understand the company's diversity priorities and goals as well as understand that broad perspectives lead to more effective decision-making and incorporate these into their work. The Industrial Hygiene Specialist will contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace culture, as well as supporting stakeholders in industrial hygiene programs. They will do so by facilitating meetings, communicating results and recommendations, developing training materials, and educating employees on industrial hygiene hazards such as respiratory protection, hearing conversation, risk assessments, personal protective equipment, engineer controls, and administrative controls.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting workplace sampling
  • Developing and implementing monitoring plans
  • Overseeing exposure monitoring activities
  • Interpreting reports and recommending control measures 
  • Preparing regulatory compliance assessments
  • Conducting occupational health investigations

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health, or Related Science, or Relevant Working Experience.
  • 1+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in industrial hygiene.
  • Proven track record of completing work on time.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office programs and database management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working towards or achieved a Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related field.
  • Certification(s) such as: ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH
  • An understanding of the specialized functions of industrial hygiene and the principles and use of specialized equipment and instrumentation. Including conducting qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with safety compliance management programs.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of AdvanSix.
