Registered Nurse (RN)

We are currently looking for an RN to provide nursing leadership and serve as an advocate to ensure individuals receive appropriate healthcare treatment, health education, and other health related services which honor the rights of the persons supported.

Requirements: 

• Active and current RN registration in good standing for Kansas.
• Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nursing educational program, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Background in home health, community nursing, geriatrics, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, and/or in the field of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities valuable.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record
• Must have ability to travel among assigned sites
• Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records and other computer operations.
• Good working knowledge and application of general nursing skills
• Must hold First Aid/CPR certification and/or instructor, or ability to obtain it.
• Ability to lift 50lb
• Ability to work flex hours with on call rotation one week each month

Responsibilities

• Wellness Coordination according to Kansas state guidelines.
• Educating and training non-licensed professionals.
• Work in collaboration with the team; providing nursing support.
• No direct reports.
• Oversight of medical care and nursing tasks delegated to non-licensed professionals.
• Collects health and functional status data for persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities systematically and continuously. The data are documented, communicated, and made readily accessible.
• Identifies health care needs for the person based on the data collected through the nursing process.
• Develops a plan with goals and interventions specific to the needs of the person.
• Implements the plan to promote, maintain, or restore wellness, prevent illness, and/or provide appropriate end-of-life care.
• Evaluates response of the person to the interventions and supports provided and revises the plan accordingly.
• Participates in the quality assurance process in order to analyze and assure continuous improvement in the quality of health care supports.
• Responsible for educating the individuals under his/her care, family members, members of the individual’s support team and the public, including health care providers.
• Responsible for instructing unlicensed personnel in health-related subjects and courses as required by the program licensure where individuals are supported.
• Assumes responsibility for continued competence, professional development and accountability. Obtains sufficient CEUs for continued active RN or LPN licensure in the state(s) of practice.
• Provides nursing care according to the physician’s orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State and Federal Regulations.
• Possible on-call rotation
