Job Summary: The ABA Criminal Justice Section is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Specialist to support our organization's efforts in driving growth, enhancing visibility, and increasing membership. The ideal candidate will possess strong graphic design skills and experience creating and executing comprehensive business development and/or strategic marketing plans. This role requires expertise in social media strategy and digital marketing and the ability to maintain our organization's brand consistency across all communications.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy Development:
- Create and implement a comprehensive, ongoing marketing plan to promote the organization's activities, events, and initiatives.
- Track and analyze the performance of marketing efforts, making adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Develop strategies to increase membership engagement and retention through targeted marketing campaigns.
Graphic Design & Marketing Materials:
- Design visually compelling marketing materials using design tools (e.g. Canva)
- Develop promotional assets including brochures, flyers, email campaigns, event invitations, and social media graphics.
- Ensure all materials align with the organization's brand identity and objectives.
Social Media Management:
- Develop and manage social media content calendars to promote events, initiatives, members, and membership benefits.
- Create engaging content for social platforms such as LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Instagram.
- Monitor and report on social media performance, providing examples and strategies for maximizing engagement using social media analytics tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
Membership Growth & Engagement:
- Collaborate closely with organization staff and section leaders on member recruitment ideation, ensuring integrated marketing strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Facilitate the execution of section initiatives with ongoing input and guidance from key stakeholders, enhancing member engagement and satisfaction.
- Tailor marketing initiatives to meet the unique needs and aspirations of different section sub-parts, driving effective member recruitment and retention strategies.
Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or 5 years of directly equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ marketing and communications experience.
- Proven experience in graphic design. Prior experience with marketing plan development, administration, and evaluation required.
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation.
- Experience in membership growth and retention strategies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, organization staff, and section leaders.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Relational database software, and campaign management tools.
Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience
- Working with professional associations or membership-based organizations.
- Knowledge of the latest trends in digital marketing and social media strategies, with experience implementing successful campaigns that increase engagement and growth.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to assess marketing campaign performance.
