Project Engineer I

Role Purpose: The Project Engineer I will complete general engineering work to develop mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and provides the engineering and technical disciplines needed to support product development projects.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Work with Program Management to ensure programs are completed on time and fully comply with the expected performance while meeting the engineering resource- and budget targets;
- Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and designs;
- Develop engineering drawings, technical literature, work instructions, and designs;
- Produce specifications for products and select appropriate raw materials and components;
- Confirms system- and product capabilities by executing tests and analyzing results;
- Studies test data and draws comparisons to similar designs or products;
- Provides engineering information to associate engineers, and reviews work for technical accuracy;
- Prepare internal and external test reports and presentations;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and testing methods (3D printing, 3D scanning, basic hand tools, basic laboratory measurement tools and techniques);
- Working knowledge of component- and sub-assembly GD&T tolerancing methods (preferred);
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously through excellent communication and strategic time management skills;
- Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner in a team environment. Identify and address issues in a direct, “data driven” manner;
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic;
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite, with a focus on Excel programming;
- Basic CAD model creation/ modification skills (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and PLM system use;
- Experience guiding the development of FEA models and applying FEA analysis results (preferred).
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, (B.S.E.) in the appropriate discipline for the position is required.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in the specific products that the position is responsible for developing, or 4 years of similar/ related industry experience.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team is strongly preferred.
