Production Manager
Role Summary
The Production Manager oversees the daily operations of one or more production areas within the facility, ensuring that all production targets—such as output, quality, safety, and efficiency—are met. This role is responsible for leading a team, optimizing production processes, and ensuring the smooth operation of equipment and workflows to meet customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of assigned production areas, ensuring that production targets, including output, quality, and safety, are consistently met.
- Oversee the operation of production machinery, assembly processes, quality control, and packaging of goods for shipment, ensuring efficient workflows.
- Ensure sufficient inventory levels to meet production demand while minimizing excess stock and optimizing space.
- Manage staffing levels, ensuring the team is appropriately sized and trained to meet production goals and maintain a balanced workload.
- Collaborate with R&D, product development/engineering, facilities management, maintenance, and customer service teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals, particularly in areas of safety, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Address and resolve any operational issues that arise, coordinating with other departments to implement effective solutions.
- Continuously assess and improve production processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality.
- Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance equipment utilization, and introduce best practices in production and quality control.
- Ensure that all production activities comply with internal policies and regulatory standards, particularly in safety, environmental, and quality practices.
- Complete all necessary documentation fully and accurately, including production reports, inventory logs, and compliance records.
- Enforce 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in the production area, encouraging employees to adopt 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
- Lead and manage production teams, ensuring effective communication, high levels of employee engagement, and adherence to performance standards.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members, fostering professional development and a culture of accountability.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Education: Bachelor's
- Experience: At least 6 years of experience in manufacturing or production management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Certifications/Licenses:
- In-depth knowledge of production processes, machinery, quality control, and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing safety standards and regulatory compliance.
