Job Summary: The Setup Technician performs critical functions related to the setup and basic processing of plastic materials in injection molding operations. This role ensures the molding process meets operational requirements and quality standards while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup Operations: Execute all necessary setup activities to ensure that the injection molding process aligns with specified requirements.
  • Documentation: Accurately document processing changes, adjustments, and issues. Notify the quality department of any dimensioning re-verifications or visual criteria changes due to process modifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Conduct moderately complex troubleshooting on equipment and tooling, making necessary adjustments to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Testing and Inspection: Test and inspect machinery to confirm safe and efficient operation.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setups and production methods.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate powered industrial equipment as required.
  • Record Keeping: Complete all necessary documentation fully and accurately.
  • 5S Standards: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in adherence to 5S standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in plastic injection molding.
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Certification for operating powered industrial equipment is a plus.
  • General supervision required, with the ability to handle moderately complex issues and refer more complex problems to higher-level staff.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and follow work instructions effectively.
  • Proficient in following both written and verbal directions.
  • Strong intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects as needed.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform job functions.
