Industrial Design Intern
Job Summary
Hillman Group is looking for industrial design interns to join our Protective Solutions division for a three month paid internship in Vinings, Georgia. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to grow and learn through collaboration with our design team and exposure to the new product development process. Design interns will support the creation and execution of designs for consumer product goods in the hardware, garden, and safety industries.
We are currently recruiting ID students for Summer 2025; exact dates are flexible. Only selected candidates will be contacted. This is an hourly 1099 contracting position - $20 per hour. This is a full-time position [40 hours per week] in a hybrid work environment – four days in the office and one remote per week. Light travel may be required.

Essential Job Functions *
- Contribute to ideation with design and marketing teams to inspire and facilitate new product initiatives.
- Communicate designs using hand and digital sketching, CAD modeling, and renderings.
- Generate design documentation to communicate concept direction to manufacturers overseas.
- Specify colors, materials, and graphics for new and existing products.
- Aid in facilitation of user research, trend identification, and innovation workshops.
- Communicate and work with cross functional teams to see products to production.
- Maintain positive outlook and contribute to team and company success.

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional visual communication (analog and digital sketching).
- Excellent graphic design skills and sense.
- Excellent sense for color, material, and finish.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Soft goods experience preferred, but not required.
