Friendship is looking for a PRN Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) to join our Friendship – North team, located on Hershberger Road. The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment under the guidance of a Physical Therapist.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Implement and execute goal-oriented treatment plans and programs as established by a Physical Therapist in coordination with other departments
- Adhere to departmental, organizational and regulatory agency policies and procedures
- Operate departmental and therapeutic equipment proficiently and safely
- Meet requirements for appropriate and timely communication with doctors, medical team members, rehab team members, department head, resident families and others as directed by supervising Physical Therapist and as outlined in departmental policies and procedures
- Monitor treatment plan progressions to identify any deficiencies and notify Physical Therapist for adjustments
- Participate in program development, quality assurance and improvement efforts
- Ensure quality, efficiency, and customer service requirements are met, as outlined in Friendship’s policies and procedures
- Supervise and collaborate with rehab aides/techs, students and others as assigned
- Identify areas of opportunity to improve quality of care for residents and/or improve departmental operations
- Adhere to all infection control protocols to ensure facility and resident safety
- Participate in facility in-services and continuing education as it relates to facility policies and procedures and physical therapy
Essential Functions:
- Work with other departments to provide the best care for each resident by identifying opportunities to collaborate
- Comply with all local, state, federal, and facility policies and procedures
- Report any changes in resident behavior, health or attitude to supervising Physical Therapist and/or department head
- Execute treatment plans and programs as related to Physical Therapy
Qualifications:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Dexterity is also necessary
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology and therapy equipment
- Be able to follow written and oral instructions
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy required
- Valid Physical Therapy Assistant License required
- Experience in a long-term care/rehabilitation facility preferred
