Friendship is looking for an PRN Occupational Therapist to join our Friendship Richfield Health Center team, located in Salem, VA. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for treating injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Execute goal-oriented treatment plans and programs in coordination with other departments
- Adhere to departmental, organization and regulatory agency policies and procedures
- Assess treatment plan progressions to identify any deficiencies and make adjustments as may be necessary
- Participate in program development, quality assurance and improvement efforts
- Supervise and collaborate with rehab aides/techs, OT/COTA students and others as assigned
- Identify areas of opportunity to improve quality of care for residents and/or improve departmental operations
Essential Functions:
- Work with other departments to provide the best care for each resident by identifying opportunities to cross-treat
- Comply with all local, state, federal, and facility policies and procedures
- Report any changes to resident behavior, health or attitude
- Create and execute treatment plans and programs
Qualifications:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Dexterity is also necessary
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology and therapy equipment
- Be able to follow written and oral instructions
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required, Masters preferred
- Valid Occupational Therapy Licensure in the state of Virginia required
- Experience in a long-term care/rehabilitation facility preferred
- Current, unexpired NBCOT certification
