Design Engineer Intern
Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on engineering student to work with our engineering team. You will assist the engineering team in developing and executing state-of-the-art planetarium display systems, modular structural frame domes and immersive dome structures. Many of these are one-of-a-kind designs that require our engineers to collaborate closely with clients to ensure that every aspect of the final display meets the client’s demanding standards. This is an intern position, and the ideal candidate is a creative individual who has a rigorous attention to detail, and a knack for creating efficient mechanical designs.
Dates: Summer 2025 (June 2 – August 15)
Responsibilities:
- Assist team with design projects (mechanical systems and dome structures). Structures can be spherical, cylindrical, toroidal, etc.
- May help prepare architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents for new and existing clients.
- May assist in maintaining bills of material, specifications, and detailed drawings for comprehensive product designs.
- Meet with team and customers via computer, phone, e-mail, and face-to-face meetings.
- May assist in product research and development.
- Perform special projects as needed.

Experience:
- Junior or Senior at the start of the program.
- Some familiarity with software development practices (through school or work).
- Available to work in a Cosm Office (hybrid).
- Available to work 20 hours per week during the defined Intern period.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in immersive technology and content.
