IT Field Engineer
Summary:
We are looking for the right IT Field Engineer to join our team. This role is a unique blend of IT, construction, and venue operations. This person will play a critical role as they will be responsible for the final installation and deployment of the IT infrastructures and systems at our Cosm venues. This person will also act as mentor and lead the training of all the local on-site IT staff during the construction phase. The ideal candidate will be flexible and thrive in a high-paced and dynamic environment. They should be a self-starter, self-motivator and possess ingenuity to excel at this position. In this role they will be playing a critical role and contribute to Cosm’s vision to change the way we experience live entertainment.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the venue design process with architects and sub-contractors
- Manage the procurement, prepping and shipment of hardware, tools, and other consumables for each venue project
- Travel to our manufacturing facility in SLC to facilitate manufacturing and shipment of IT hardware.
- Project manage the on-site installation of all various IT related hardware and systems.
- Record, track, and document all work and changes to any IT designs.
- Maintain a budget to track all installation related costs or expenditures.
- Maintain and iterate on an on-site training program for IT Technician focusing on IT infrastructure, F&B systems, and IT operations.
- Work with other departments to help facilitate training on CX Systems, CX Display, AV and systems.
- Supervise low-voltage and security sub-contractors to manage the installation of all data cabling, security systems, and wireless access points.
- Work with general contractors, electricians and designers to analyze and resolve any technical, design, or construction related issues on-site.
- Collaborate with Field Tech Engineering to triage, diagnose and troubleshoot any on-site technical issues.
Experience:
- 8+ years working experience with IT technologies
- 4+ years working experience with IT installation (rack and stack)
- 2+ years working with enterprise grade IT hardware and systems
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Hands-on experience with network hardware, switches, routers, firewalls, and related networking devices.
- Experience working with ISPs installing fiber and hardware
- Hand-on experience with various low voltage and structured cabling, including copper, fiber, and coax.
- Extensive experience with physical rack and stacking of IT hardware
- Experience working with ISPs installing fiber and hardware
- Knowledge and experience with network administration and troubleshooting tools.
- Knowledge and experience with system integrations and system administration.
- Experience with operating heavy equipment, including lifts and forklifts.
- Experience training junior IT technicians or similar positions.
- Working knowledge of F&B, Security, and AV systems are a plus.
Work Environment:
- Available for weekends and after business hours as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required.
- Ability to navigate and work in an active construction site.
- Travel to sites and spend 6-8 weeks on-site for venue installations.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
