Summary:

Working under Cosm’s Controller, the Media Accounting Manager supports Cosm’s live production department which includes live immersive and C360.  The Media Accounting Manager will help build and scale the accounting operations for the department and work closely with the FP&A team to ensure projects are created timely for production events, accruals are accurate, and costs are managed effectively.  The ideal candidate will have outstanding financial acumen, a passion for sports, media and entertainment, and experience with rapidly growing businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the production teams, FP&A team, and project accountant on maintaining up to date project codes for contracts and production events as required for tracking.
  • Manage the accounting for multiple sports & media revenue streams which include both internal and external agreements. 
  • Supervise and coach the project accountant who enters all AP, AR and projects into Sage Intacct (ERP System).
  • Review and approval of AP, credit cards and expense reimbursements for the department.
  • Review license agreements, royalty accruals and minimum guarantees to ensure financial statements are stated correctly for each period.   
  • Review and provide statements of royalties to rights holders on a timely basis.
  • Help to establish a capitalized content policy for our Cosm Studios department.
  • Preparation and recording of Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Content Programming on a monthly basis.
  • Partner with Cosm’s Controller on month-end close duties including GL activity review, expense accrual analysis and recording, cost allocations, and budget to actual reporting.
  • Assist in all aspects of internal and external financial statement preparation, including compliance with GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies, including those specific to the media & entertainment industry.
  • Support financial and tax audits, and other reporting/compliance tasks.
  • Participate in a wide variety of projects and compile ad-hoc reports as needed.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, CPA is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in the Media & Entertainment industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with SAGE Intacct ERP or other similar cloud-based ERP systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. With the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and the organization
  • High proficiency using MS Office, including intermediate knowledge of Excel (Vlookups, pivot tables, if statement functions and building spreadsheets)
  • Demonstrated capacity for gathering/scrutinizing data to identify issues, opportunities, patterns, and sustainable business solutions
  • Ability to assertively solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to Company policies and procedures, including but not limited to attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities.

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $120,000-$160,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
