PRIMARY PURPOSE

CNA is hiring for the Lead Financial Analyst in the Chief Financial Office (CFO). The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in the CFO is responsible for planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical activities that supports CNA’s major business decisions and overall financial health. The Lead Financial Analyst is responsible for providing insightful financial analysis, planning, and reporting to support key business decisions. The Lead will work closely with other CFO department colleagues, Vice Presidents, and Directors from operations, finance, contracts and others as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES

  1. Perform in-depth financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  2. Prepare and deliver financial presentations, detailed reports, and dashboards for senior management and directors, highlighting key financial insights and key performance indicators (KPI).
  3. Lead in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  4. Support the preparation of indirect rate forecasts and monitor overhead allocations.
  5. Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations for corrective actions.
  6. Clearly communicate financial findings and recommendations, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  7. Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate business initiatives and strategic projects.
  8. Assist with government contracting regulatory requirements (e.g., Incurred Cost Submission) and respond to internal and external audit requests, when necessary.
  9. Prepare various financial reports and Board of Trustees presentations for management review.
  10. Provide data-driven insights and financial scenarios to support strategic decisions in a timely manner.
  11. Identify opportunities for enhancing financial processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.
  12. Develop best practices and ensure consistency in financial analyses across the team.
  13. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring they understand financial analysis and adopt process improvements.
  14. Provide oversight of team input into periodic financial reporting and analysis.
  15. Ensure alignment with corporate goals and strategic objectives.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent combination of education and / or work experience required. MBA and / or CPA desirable.
  2. Experience: Minimum 10 years related, progressive experience, including experience as an advanced level contributor in an accounting, budgeting, and/or finance department. Government contracting industry experience preferred.
  3. Skills: Must have extensive Government contracting knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis. Experience with financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g. Deltek Costpoint, Cognos) and Workday Adaptive Planning. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and analytical excellence. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinker. Excellent communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, strong presentation design and delivery skills (e.g., PowerPoint), and strong oral and written communication skills including presentation abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  4. Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  5. Hybrid Work Eligibility: This position is eligible for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements at the discretion of the Supervisor.  Employees may be required to work at CNA headquarters or other work locations resulting in changes to the scheduled telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements.
