Location: Jamestown, ND
Shift: 12-hour shifts and every 3rd weekend
Job Schedule: Full Time
Weekly Hours: 36
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to perform ongoing nursing health assessment, teaching, and nursing care to the clients at the Anne Carlsen Center under the direction of a licensed nurse. The Nurse Technician performs supervised tasks related to delivery of health and personal cares, therapeutic, education, recreation, and leisure activities for the clients contributing to the overall IHP/IEP, behavior plans, and nursing care plans.
QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
- Certified Nurse Assistant in good standing with the North Dakota State Department of Health.
- An enrolled nursing student having completed junior year in a North Dakota Board of Nursing approved four-year nursing program at a ND Board of nursing approved program and has a clinical preceptor assigned.
- Able to provide written confirmation and list of skills that the nursing student has completed successfully prior to employment
- CPR Certified
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Understands the requirement of the reporting relationship with and direction by the registered nurse and maintains performance according to the position
- Demonstrates ability to problem solve effectively with children, young adults, physicians, staff and family members.
- Demonstrates ability to follow all established policies, procedures, assignments, schedules and follow all physician orders, within their scope of practice.
- Demonstrates ability to assist with direct client care and related tasks, obtains client histories, performs vital signs, assists with clinical procedures, monitor clinical interventions, and documents accordingly in client’s chart, IHP/IEP, behavior plan and nursing care plan
- Demonstrates the ability to administer nursing care using advanced technology and special equipment in a pediatric environment
- Demonstrates ability to be knowledgeable about new medications and treatments, evidence based practice and perform nursing assessments accurately.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of medical equipment such as ventilators, IV pumps, feeding pumps, CPT, Suctioning, etc.
- Demonstrates ability to utilize communication devices and assistive technology devices in a pediatric environment
- Demonstrates the ability to perform safety and infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe, organized and clean environment.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide guidance to DSP’s to ensure adequate is provided
- Demonstrates ability to educate client and families when necessary
