Job Overview

This is a role within the distribution center of Simon & Schuster, a 100-year-old company with offices around the world, that is also the only US owned book publishing house.   In this role you will be responsible for the Shipping Team Lead.

What you will be doing on a daily basis

• Delegate duties to take-off and drivers as needed.
• Palletize cartons
• Wrap cartons onto pallet
• Validate outbound pallet markings for accuracy.
• Ensure outbound pallets are stacked/wrapped securely prior to loading.
• Operate low rider
• Operate sit down Forklift to load and unload trailers
• Communicate with Shipping and Transportation office staff regarding dock duties related to all outbound orders.
• Assist with training new employees of all tasks in the Shipping department.
• Assist with Labor Management and coaching of employees to reach LM standards.
• Communicate with leads on other shifts as needed
• Enforce safety protocols when needed

Some requirements:

• Ability to lead and assist with directing staff
• Ability to read shipping labels
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Available for overtime as needed
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Ability to operate low rider and forklift
• High School Diploma (preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures
• Ability to follow directions

Shift and Schedule:

• Our distribution facility operates in 3 shifts and this particular role is part of the Morning shift, working Monday- Friday (5:00 AM – 1:00 PM).  There is an opportunity for overtime as well.
