Job Description:

  • Installation: Install compressed air piping systems according to blueprints, layout diagrams, and specifications provided by the client, project manager or sales engineers. This involves determining optimal routing for the pipes, selecting appropriate materials, and installing piping to convey compressed air efficiently and safely.
  • Material Selection: Choose suitable piping materials based on factors such as air pressure requirements, flow rate, environmental conditions, and compatibility with compressed air. Common materials include aluminum, stainless steel, copper, and various types of piping.
  • Pipe Sizing and Layout: Calculate pipe sizes and layout configurations to ensure adequate airflow and pressure throughout the system. Considerations may include the distance between the compressor and end-use equipment, pressure drop, and potential obstructions.
  • Pipe Support and Mounting: Mount and support piping systems securely using hangers, brackets, clamps, and other fixtures to prevent sagging, vibration, and damage. Ensure proper anchoring to walls, ceilings, or structural supports as necessary.
  • Pipe Joining and Sealing: Join pipes and fittings using appropriate methods such as threading or mechanical connections like compression fittings and push-to-connect fittings. Apply sealants, tape, or thread compounds as needed to ensure airtight connections and prevent leaks.
  • Pressure Testing: Conduct pressure tests on installed piping systems to verify integrity and identify any leaks or weaknesses. Perform adjustments or repairs as necessary to achieve compliance with safety standards and client specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations throughout the installation process, including proper handling of tools and equipment, use of personal protective gear, and precautions against electrical hazards, confined spaces, and falling objects.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials used, installation procedures, pressure test results, and any modifications or repairs made to the piping system. Provide documentation to clients or project managers upon completion of the installation.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate closely with other tradespeople, such as compressor technicians, electricians, and equipment installers, to ensure seamless integration of the compressed air piping system with other components of the facility or infrastructure.
