Senior Test Technician

Role Purpose: Provides customers, end users and internal departments with product and technical support by performing the following duties or through laboratory technicians.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintains the gage calibration program for the Test Lab.
  • Assist with training of team and technical support representatives.
  • Communicates with laboratory supervisor and manufacturing on a regular basis to ensure rapid resolution to issues and consistency of applied methodologies
  • Plans sequence of testing and certification procedures for instruments (crash test dummies) and equipment.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and certify other instruments and test equipment.
  • Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
  • Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts.
  • Reassembles and certifies instruments and equipment.
  • Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains and improves systems for responding to customer inquiries via telephone, online networks, and mail.
  • Trains staff to help customers use products properly.
  • Responsible for maintaining and supporting laboratory compliance with ISO-17025 requirements to include internal auditing.
  • Communicates with Software Engineering regarding bugs and follows-up to make sure fixes are received and tested.
  • Advises management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls with customers.
  • Advise technical writers on user documentation.
  • Assists with customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product.
  • Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
  • Plans and schedules levels of support according to product release schedules.
  • Assists with RMA inspection, assembly and disassembly.
  • Competent to perform final testing of new products.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks required.
  • Experience with instrumentation and data collection, DTS is preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Internet software.

Education and/or Experience:

 

  • Four (+) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Prior Experience in an ISO/IEC or A2LA certified laboratory required
